A Beautiful Day

A good friend of mine introduced me to India Arie’s music a while ago. While I had heard a little bit of her music, I hadn’t listened to it in depth. My friend had it on while we were in the car and I fell in love. Music is one of my greatest passions, and songs that have a great sound and inspiring lyrics are definitely my favourites. India Arie’s songs fit both categories. Last night I was listening to one of her albums and found the track above. I love, love, love it and I put it on first thing this morning as the start to my day. It made me want to dance and even inspired me to send texts to a couple of friends just to wish them a beautiful day too.

Thankfully I was  ultra cheery this morning, because the Happy Penrith vibe was definitely tested when demolition began on the house next door to mine. The house had a beautiful big yard and lush gorgeous trees, that were in fact one of the reasons that I liked my current place so much. But no more. Unfortunately, as in so many places at the moment, the gorgeous parcel of land is to be turned into another block of units. I don’t want to post too negatively, so I am focusing on the positive. The largest tree at the back of the yard, which is just at my bedroom window, has been left standing. I actually found myself this morning praying that it wouldn’t be taken. It is home to so many beautiful birds, and provides lovely shade and fresh air. I often find myself watching the bats making their topsy turvy way through the branches at night to eat the berries it produces. Tomorrow the house itself will be demolished, but at this stage the tree is still  staying so I have some hope that the animals will return in time. Progress is one thing and its sad that it, and nature, don’t co-exist more in a world so concerned with climate change. That being said points to the developer, and the bulldozer team today, for respecting it enough to keep it. Thankyou!

Please take a minute to listen to India’s song. It is an uplifting way to start the day, an affirmation in itself. It definitely made a difference to my day today and I hope it makes a difference to yours!

Quick cheerios to the bus driver on the 11.40 am 785 bus with the greatest laugh, and the staff at Theos cafe on High St where mum and I had delicious cappucinos today when I had to escape the noise!

Heres hoping you have had a beautful day and are looing forward to a great night!
